Dianne LaBerge has joined the staff at Shelburne Farms in Monkton. Her new role is Farmbased Educator. She will lead hands-on activities for visitors. These sessions include direct interaction with farm animals.
LaBerge’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Vermont. She studied English and History at the UVM campus. Later, she earned a Master of Letters in Mediaeval Studies. That degree came from the University of St. Andrews.
She grew up on a dairy farm in Vermont’s Champlain Valley. Her childhood routine involved working with livestock and exploring nearby woods. She also spent time reading books with her cat. Now she lives in Monkton with two dogs.
Her work at Shelburne Farms focuses on food and fiber systems. She helps participants build connections to those systems through practical tasks. The goal is to link people to the source of their food through direct experience.
When she is not at work, LaBerge spends time outdoors. She explores local fields, forests, and streams with her two dogs. She also reads when she has free time.
The Institute for Agroecology lists her as a member of its network. Her profile on the institute’s website confirms her current position at Shelburne Farms. It also notes her residence in Monkton and her educational history.
