St. Albans bagel shop gets new life; Westford store shuts doors
Fersing family opens fifth bakery in former Feldman's location while Westford Provisions closes after five months.

Five. That is the number of locations the Fersing family operates after announcing a fifth Burlington Bagel Bakery in St. Albans. It is the brand's first store outside Chittenden County.
The new shop sits at 133 North Main Street. It occupies the space where Feldman's Bagels used to stand. Feldman's abruptly closed that site and its flagship Pine Street bakery on June 18.
Tamara and Kyle Fersing bought their original bakery on Shelburne Road in South Burlington more than 25 years ago. They later added locations in Williston, Essex, and on Church Street in Burlington. Their children, Avery and Hayden, now work alongside them.
Avery Fersing said the family is renovating the St. Albans space. The goal is to open this winter.
Meanwhile, Westford Provisions closed permanently on September 30. The store near Westford Town Common opened in June 2025. Owners Kimberly Harris and Jim Salimeno offered local foods, a deli, a bakery, ice cream, and coffee. This summer, they added a seasonal outdoor bar on the porch.
Harris cited rising food and fuel costs in a statement to Seven Days. She said paying adult employees a living wage while keeping prices low did not work. The co-owners described the store as magical in a social media comment.
