Lady A and Boyz II Men released a new song titled "I Love The One." The track pairs the country trio with the R&B group. Both acts are known for their vocal harmonies.
The song is the third single from a new collection called "Songs Inspired by The Chosen: Seasons 1-5." This upcoming album features original music inspired by the first five seasons of the historical drama series. The project includes contributions from other artists such as Tyler Hubbard and Jamie MacDonald.
Hillary Scott of Lady A co-wrote the track. She drew inspiration from biblical stories and her personal experience watching the series with her teenage daughter. Scott said a specific scene moved her deeply. She described being particularly touched by the story of a woman who is healed after touching Jesus' garment.
"Collaborating with Boyz II Men on this song is a 'pinch me' moment for all of us," Scott said. "Their voices have been in my ears my whole life, so to hear us harmonize brings tears and goosebumps."
The group Boyz II Men stated that the project connected with their longstanding relationship with faith. They expressed a belief in the ability of music to serve a greater purpose. The collaboration brings together Lady A's country-pop sound with Boyz II Men's R&B-rooted style.
The performance is a six-part vocal arrangement. It centers on themes of faith, healing, hope, and spiritual transformation. An accompanying lyric video for the song incorporates scenes from the series, including depictions of miracles performed by Jesus.
The album is scheduled for release on Oct. 30. This release arrives ahead of the sixth season of The Chosen. That new season is set to begin streaming on Prime Video on Nov. 15.
