A new revival of the musical 'Damn Yankees' is coming to New York City next spring. The production will take over the Marquis Theatre. Previews start on March 24, 2027. Opening night is scheduled for April 20.

The cast includes Neil Patrick Harris, Julianne Hough, and Austin Scott. Harris will play the character Applegate. Hough will portray Lola. Scott will take the role of Young Joe Hardy. Hough is best known for her work on 'Dancing with the Stars.' She previously appeared in the play 'POTUS' in 2022. This will be her first Broadway musical.

The creative team has updated the story. The plot now takes place in the year 2000. At that time, the New York Yankees had just won three World Series titles in a row. The Baltimore Orioles replace the Washington Senators as the rival team. Will Power and Doug Wright wrote the new adaptation. Lynn Ahrens provided additional lyrics. Sergio Trujillo will direct and choreograph the show.

The production was announced at Yankee Stadium. It reunites the team behind a 2025 version at Arena Stage in Washington, D.C. That earlier run sold out. This staging is the first Broadway revival of 'Damn Yankees' since 1994.

Major League Baseball and MLB Studios are partnering on the project. This marks the league's first Broadway musical collaboration. MLB Studios is an Emmy Award-winning production label. More casting announcements are expected later.
