Temperatures in Burlington reached 74 degrees on Wednesday, matching the record high for the date. The reading placed the city among several Vermont locations that broke or tied their early November marks. Peter Kvietkauskas, a meteorologist for WCAX, noted that the sun pushed conditions well above the seasonal norm for the time of year.

The heat was part of a widespread pattern across the region. Clouds that lingered in the morning burned off, allowing sunshine to drive temperatures into the low and mid 70s. Residents who stepped outside after work found conditions that felt more like late September than early November. By Wednesday night, clouds began to return, and overnight lows dropped back into the 50s.

Thursday brings a change in the weather pattern. Showers are expected to move from west to east, arriving in the mid to late morning hours. Most of the area will receive rain, though the amounts remain modest. Kvietkauskas predicted most locations would see only a couple of tenths of an inch of precipitation. Temperatures will also fall, settling into the low to mid 60s.

Friday offers a drier outlook, though spotty showers remain possible. Highs will continue to slide, landing in the upper 50s and lower 60s. The weekend looks even cooler. Saturday afternoon highs will sit in the 40s to about 50, with a few showers likely to fall. Sunday remains drier, with temperatures generally stuck in the 40s.

Cloudy conditions and passing showers will persist into the following week. Mountain snowflakes are possible on Monday and Tuesday. No single day is forecast to become a washout, with total rain amounts capped at about half an inch through the period.
