Rain that fell through the night has ended, leaving Burlington with cooler temperatures for the weekend. The highest temperatures on Friday are expected to reach the upper 50s and lower 60s, with southern Vermont seeing more sunshine than the north. Cloud cover will persist throughout the day, but precipitation has ceased.

Saturday, which is also Halloween, will bring clear skies and sunshine. High temperatures will only reach the 40s. During trick-or-treat hours, the temperature will drop from the 40s into the 30s. The forecast suggests children may need an additional layer over their costumes. Residents must also set their clocks back one hour on Saturday night.

Sunday will feature more sunshine, with high temperatures in the 50s. Monday will be mainly cloudy, with afternoon temperatures rising to the upper 50s and lower 60s. Tuesday will remain cloudy with a chance for a spotty shower, though most areas will likely stay dry. Highs on Tuesday will range from the 50s to about 60 degrees.

The next significant rain event is expected to develop later next week. Rain is forecast to build through Thursday and continue into Friday. Meteorologists estimate totals could exceed one inch, though the pattern is still several days away. Peter Kvietkauskas of WCAX noted that the team will continue to monitor the developing system.
