Nebraska guard Britt Prince is the sixth Husker to appear on the Naismith Trophy Women's College Player of the Year Watch List. The announcement arrived on Thursday, placing the 5-foot-11 junior among the top 50 candidates for the national award.
Prince entered the program as the first five-star recruit in the twenty-year history of the rating system for female players. Her freshman year produced 13.4 points, 4 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. Those numbers earned her a spot on the Big Ten All-Freshman Team and the university's Female Freshman Athlete of the Year honor.
Her sophomore season showed a sharp increase in production. Prince led the team in scoring with 17.9 points per game, along with 4.4 assists and 1.5 steals. She recorded two games of 30 or more points, including outings against Oral Roberts on November 19, 2025, and Virginia on November 25, 2025. She also posted nine games with at least 20 points. Her shooting splits of 53.5% from the field, 45.7% from three-point range, and 91.2% from the free-throw line made her one of only two players in the country to achieve a 50-40-90 season.
Prince set a school record with 56 consecutive made free throws. That streak included her first 54 attempts in Big Ten play. She guided the Huskers to a third straight NCAA tournament appearance. In the two post-season games, she averaged 24.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and two blocks. She scored 27 points against No. 21 Baylor, marking the second-highest total by a Husker in tournament history.
Prince continued her strong performance in 2026 exhibition play. In a closed scrimmage at Kansas State, she scored 27 points on 10-of-16 shooting, while adding six rebounds, five assists, and three steals. In a televised exhibition against Wayne State, she finished with 15 points on 5-of-15 shooting, four assists, three rebounds, and three steals in 26 minutes.
Nebraska opens its regular season against San Jose State on Monday, November 2, at Pinnacle Bank Arena. The game is scheduled for noon central, following the annual Sizemore Sportsmanship Pep Rally. Nebraska Public Media and BTN+ will carry the broadcast.
The Naismith Trophy process will narrow the initial list to a 30-player Mid-Season Team in February. Four national finalists will be selected in March, with the winner decided during the Final Four weekend. Head coaches, administrators, and journalists account for 75% of the voting power, while a fan vote makes up the remaining 25%.
