Bluebird BBQ will close its Burlington location on Saturday, October 31, ending a run of more than 17 years. The restaurant will serve its last food on Thursday, October 29, Friday, October 30, and Saturday, October 31, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. each day. Customers will pick up orders curbside only during these final sessions.
Owner Sue Bette stated that the decision to close comes because the conditions for operating the restaurant are no longer aligned. "It's time for Bluebird to say goodbye," Bette said. "We wish Bluebird could continue on, but the conditions just aren't lining up for Bluebird to be Bluebird. It's a short farewell tour, and the best way for us at this time to say goodbye."
Bette credited the staff for building a community gathering place. She noted that the team's talent and care created a space for local celebrations. "As we send Bluebird off, we want to recognize all the Bluebirds, past and present, whose talent, creativity, and care have created a place for our community to gather and celebrate," Bette said. She added that the team has shown genuine hospitality and pride in their work.
The owner expressed gratitude to the community for including Bluebird in their daily lives and special events. "We're so sad to say goodbye, and so grateful for the opportunity to have cooked for you," Bette said. The restaurant invites guests to visit for curbside takeout for a final round of service.
