Nashville, Tennessee state Sen. Brent Taylor acknowledged on Tuesday that he sent unsolicited nude photos to multiple women. The admission came as the Nashville Scene published a report detailing the claims. Taylor is currently running for reelection to the state Senate and a seat in Tennessee’s 9th Congressional District.
The report cited sources who said they received or saw the images. One recipient stated that Taylor sent a photo as recently as 2021. Taylor was 53 years old at the time. The senator described the actions as youthful indiscretions and said the episode belongs to his past.
“Whatever story you think you’ve got, my wife is well aware of it, and we’ve worked through it a long time ago,” Taylor said in the report. “My God and my wife have forgiven me, and I would consider everyone else doing the same.”
In a separate statement released later that day, Taylor addressed the timing of the story. He noted that there were seven days left until Election Day. “I’m willing to acknowledge my past indiscretion,” he wrote. He argued that voters in the 9th District are focused on family finances and prices at the grocery store and gas station, rather than his personal history.
Taylor positioned himself against his Democratic opponent, state Rep. Justin Pearson. He described Pearson as a Democrat Socialist who would be an ongoing public embarrassment if elected. The senator urged voters to choose competence over chaos.
Pearson responded with a statement criticizing Taylor’s behavior. He noted that Taylor has been in public office since 1995 and has been married for 30 years. “Men of faith, let alone men who are married, in their fifties, and in public office, have no business sending unsolicited nude photos to women,” Pearson said. He called the behavior disturbing for a politician who professes Christian values.
Taylor has served in the Tennessee state Senate since 2023. He faces Pearson, independent Dennis Clark, and independent Michelle Head in the congressional race. The midterm election is scheduled for Nov. 3.
