Bruce Springsteen will headline the 20th anniversary of the Stand Up for Heroes benefit on Nov. 9. The event is scheduled for David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York.
Organizers announced the lineup on Sunday. Singer Alex Warren will perform, along with The Resilient, a band composed of wounded U.S. combat veterans. The comedy segment features Jon Stewart, Hasan Minhaj, and Josh Johnson from The Daily Show.
The Bob Woodruff Foundation and the New York Comedy Festival present the milestone gathering. It is part of the festival's run from Nov. 6 to 15. The foundation was established after ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff was injured in Iraq in 2006. He and his wife, Lee, partnered with festival founders Caroline Hirsch and Andrew Fox to start the event in 2007.
Woodruff said the initiative has expanded far beyond its initial scope. "When we started this way back in 2007 we thought it would just be a one-time concert," he stated. "But it's become one of the most meaningful nights of the year." The event combines comedy, music, and stories of military service.
The foundation reports the benefit has generated more than $113 million to date. Other reports place the total at $117 million. Previous editions have featured Stephen Colbert, Jerry Seinfeld, John Oliver, John Mulaney, Ricky Gervais, Jim Gaffigan, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Tickets for the anniversary edition are available for purchase online.
