The Kansas City Chiefs' receiving corps recorded just 39 total yards against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, marking the lowest output for the position in a loss this season. The team dropped its first game of the 2026 campaign in a 31 to 27 decision, a result that exposed specific gaps in the offense.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw for 165 yards and no touchdowns, scoring a season-low six fantasy points. He has topped 250 passing yards in only one of his last four games and has not thrown a touchdown in either of his past two contests. His season average over that four-game stretch stands at 12.4 fantasy points per game.

The lack of production stemmed from injury. Rashee Rice missed the game due to a strained right hamstring, while Tyquan Thornton remains on injured reserve following surgery to repair a dislocated left ankle. The remaining group, consisting of Xavier Worthy, Cyrus Allen, Justin Watson, Andrew Armstrong, and Jalen Royals, combined for six receptions.

Running back Kenneth Walker III, who entered the game leading the league with 665 rushing yards, managed only 36 yards on 14 carries. Seattle employed a two-deep safety look for most of the contest, preventing Walker from gaining 10 or more yards on any single run. This was his first season playing for the team that drafted him after he won the Super Bowl MVP award with them the previous year.

Chiefs general manager Brett Veach faces a decision ahead of the November 10 trade deadline. The source suggests he should continue looking to acquire a receiver to replace the lost production. The team travels to Denver to face the Broncos on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET.

On the other side of the ball, Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba finished with a career-high 129 receiving yards in the first half. He now leads the NFL with 867 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns. ESPN Research notes he is the first player in the Super Bowl era to reach at least 850 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns in his team's first seven games of a season.

Seattle's Sam Darnold completed 20 of 28 passes for 257 yards and one touchdown. He threw eight interceptions over his previous five games but did not get sacked in this one, a change from the five sacks he absorbed in each of the two prior weeks.
