James Wan and Jason Blum have officially named their combined production entity Blumhouse Atomic.

The merger, finalized in 2024, united Atomic Monster and Blumhouse under a single corporate roof. While the two original brands will continue to operate as distinct labels for creative teams, the new umbrella structure consolidates their distribution and development capabilities.

Blum stated the move was a natural progression of their long history of collaboration. He noted that the union proved the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. The company now manages major franchises including The Conjuring, Insidious, and Saw. A new chapter of the Saw franchise is currently in development, returning the series to Wan’s direct oversight.

Financial performance has driven the strategic shift. Since the merger, the combined banners have generated more than $2.5 billion in worldwide box office revenue. Their total production costs for these films remained below $330 million. This ratio demonstrates the financial discipline the leadership team aims to maintain while matching the output volume of a major studio.

The year 2026 has shown particular strength for the new brand. Blumhouse Atomic has earned $1.3 billion so far this year. Two films account for the majority of that total. Obsession, directed by Curry Barker, grossed $520 million globally. Backrooms, directed by Kane Parsons, added another $400 million to the company’s ledger.

Wan emphasized the importance of discovering new talent. He cited his work with directors such as Josh Giuliano and Dylan Clark as key examples of this approach. The company aims to build lasting professional relationships that extend beyond single projects. To support this mission, Sam Zimmerman was appointed senior vice president of development and acquisitions. He will focus on developing genre features with budgets under $5 million. The company also signed a first-look deal with Divide/Conquer to develop high-concept projects at economical rates.

Blumhouse Atomic has announced a substantial slate for 2027. The lineup includes established properties like River, The Revenge of La Llorona, and The Exorcist: Martyrs. It also features new entries from the Paranormal Activity and Blair Witch series. New projects include Sleepover and Seasons. Blum stated the company is adapting these properties for television, video games, and live experiences to expand their reach beyond theatrical releases.
